God Save My Child
God Save My Child was created for Europe Day at Lembaga Indonesia Perancis (the French Cultural Centre) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. For this performance I constructed a large hoop skirt using bamboo and covered with a handmade red and black dress. I wore a mask that gave a haunted appearance of royalty. The performance was centered around the history of forced child marriage in aristocratic Europe. In the performance, a mother gives birth to a daughter and then dismembers her, choosing to take her life in order to avoid a future forced marriage.
